Our LAC3203 class had a very special agricultural visit to Lim Chu Kang yesterday morning. It's been long since i had trips like that. The first one in tertiary life?
Hay Dairies
Simply speaking, they're the only one offering fresh goat milk delivered to your house in Singapore.
Thousand of goats from bucks, does to kids
they remove the horns of the does when they're 10 days old for differentiation purposes
Milking can be 3 -4 litres per day per doe
and they all know how to queue up when it's their turn!
the usual life span for does is 12 years.
they're used for milking for 10 years, afterwhich they'll be sold to hospitals for research purposes
they'll all wake up at 9am for milking!
we each get a small bottle to taste.
choose between plain or choco!
they're selling at S$8.00 per 800 ml
S$2.50 per 200 ml
expensive ya? compared to cow's milk
Lovely photos i took at the farm

Bollywood Veggies
a brand new experience w/ farmland owners that's what i've got to say
actually for Hay Dairies too
all in all, it's a form of huge agricultural profits
but they've got something special here..
they hire the sick and do them a favour by taking care of their accommodation
it's a good deed they're doing
him talking about his life stories
google his wife ivy singh lim and you'll find that she frequents court alot, same w/ the husb
they've got a farm restaurant and a place for cooking lessons if you want
__
Lastly, P & L
not much to say about this
they're very commercialised, objective is to sell their products to visitors
they have aloe vera, cactus, wheatgrass, fungus, mushroom
food sampling is available but many of us didn't like what they cooked - simply put, tastes weird
that's it!
and so recess week starts!
